Why Intermittent Fasting May NOT Be a Good Fit For You

You’ve probably heard a LOT about intermittent fasting but with all the noise online, people are left with loads of questions about it. Let’s break it down to determine if it’s right for you:

PROS:
✔ Simple structure – no calorie counting
✔ May help to reduce caloric intake
✔ Can improve some metabolic markers (glucose metabolism, triglycerides, inflammation)
✔ Some people report better focus & energy
BUT… and yes, there is a BIG BUT…

CONS:
⚠️ Hard to sustain – social events & routines often don’t fit into this time
⚠️ Overeating – long fasts can lead to binges which leads to more calories
⚠️ Nutritional gaps – less time = fewer nutrients (fiber, protein, iron, vitamins)
⚠️ Benefits are transient – as soon as you stop intermittent fasting, benefits are lost
⚠️ Slower metabolism – risk of losing muscle mass if not paired with adequate protein and exercise
⚠️ Not for everyone – avoid if pregnant, diabetic, or history of disordered eating
⚠️ Evidence is ONLY preliminary – there is only some observational human data and animal studies

Bottom Line:
It may help short-term, but it’s certainly not a magic fix, instead we prefer to focus on balanced and sustainable habits.
